Welcome to Class 10 News!
Welcome to our first news update of the year. We would like to share some of the exciting things that Class 10 have been doing since they started in Year 1.

Making lighthouses: day and night |
One of the major changes in this school year has been the introduction of our new theme based curriculum. The children enjoyed our first two topics: “Jobs” and “Day and Night”. The children experienced visits from parents and contacts of the school, who came to explain the sorts of jobs they do. Our “Day and Night” topic opened up with a day at school in pyjamas which was enjoyed by everyone, teachers included! Currently the children are broadening their understanding of celebrations beyond their own experiences. |

Our first outing of the year was to the theatre to see the Tiger Who Came To Tea. The children loved the show, although the bus ride seemed to be as big a highlight as the production itself! A big thank you to all of you who were able to help and to all of you for being so understanding when there was a last minute change of plan. There were also visits at school from theatre groups, performing the Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch and a drama group from Bullers Wood School, who produced and performed a lively pantomime!
| The build up to the Christmas break was an especially exciting time for the children, since it was their first autumn term at Crofton. Class 10‘s performance of the Australian song “Tie me kangaroo down sport” in the Christmas production was a fantastic effort, in front of their first big audience. All the children really enjoyed taking part. To celebrate the end of term the children enjoyed having their own Christmas party. |

We’ve had a really busy but very enjoyable first part of the year with the children. We feel lucky to have such a great group of children this year and would like to thank you for the support you give us in helping them learn and progress. |
